Question: What role did government play in Public Health in the 19th century?
Pre work, using the TASC wheel
1) Gather and organise: What did the government do, what is the timescale, why was there reluctance, what made them get involved, what did they know/not know about issues?
2) Identify: What is the task - I need to decide if the government played a large or small role and give evidence to support it. I will look at the evidence and make sure I can support my answer.
3) Generate: How many ideas can I come up with? I know it was not until the later 19th -century and that many were laissez-faire (leave them to it) and didn't want to get involved... I also know that it was only as the Industrial Revolution became more advanced that scientific knowledge improved...There was only a wide range of beliefs of how germs and disease spread.
4) Decide; I have decided that my answer is: The government played a minor role in the early 19th century but as knowledge increase and discoveries were made and pressure increase, the government took a more active role.
5) Implement - I write the essay using my research and supporting my ideas with evidence.
6) Evaluate - Compare my essay to the mark scheme
7) Communicate - Exchange with someone and read eachother's then communicate what went well and what could be done better.
8) Learn from experience - use my SMART targets
